Manny Pacquiao’s loss to Yordenis Ugas last night had the fight world buzzing, with rumors of his retirement making the rounds.
After 12 rounds, Ugas took the win in the WBA welterweight title fight by unanimous decision against one of the top boxers, Pacquiao was left contemplating whether his fight career would continue.
Although he has not made a clear announcement for retirement, the post-fight conference left everyone wondering how much truth there was to the comments the boxing champion made.
“In the future, you may not see Manny Pacquiao again to fight in the ring,” he stated at the post-fight news conference.
Pacquiao currently holds a senate seat in his home country of the Philippines, where he has discussed the possibility of running for the next presidential election.
In lieu of his impressive boxing career, it is a definite possibility, “I am a fighter inside and outside the ring. I look forward to getting back to the Philippines,” said Pacquiao.
The 42 year old boxer with a decades-long career in the ring, should he retire, will retire with an impressive record of 62-8-2.
